Trevor's Photography Blog

Well, my sister finally got married.  She and Matt had a very hot day but for the most part, Friday the 13th went off without a hitch.  People frequently asked me what it was like to shoot my own sisters wedding.  Was I emotional?  Nervous?  Too busy to enjoy myself?  Well, I'll tell you this;  I am so glad it was me shooting my little sister on her biggest day.  I was very nervous but only 2 minutes before she came down the isle.  My stomach was in knots.  To date, this was the most important wedding I'd shot and I knew I'd have difficult conditions (during that 31 degree heat wave with the wedding under the sun) and had to turn out gold.

I haven't yet gone though all of Nat's pics but here was a few that I grabbed from the bunch.  It was a wonderful ceremony by the garden at my parents' property and then off to Hatfield Farm for the reception.

Next wedding for me will actually be my brothers wedding this Friday.  John and Aimee get married.  Holy frig.

Over the winter I was approached by Kate Hayter of Kate Hayter Photographics and she asked me to photograph her wedding.  Kate is a wonderful Halifax wedding photographer and has been shooting weddings for 10 years so when she asked me to shoot her big day I was honoured, excited and a little nervous.  It was really important to me that Kate would be, along with every other bride, thrilled at the end of their day that they chose me.  Not only are we friends but she knows great photography - so I had to be on top of my game.  It's not often a wedding photographer shoots another wedding photographers' wedding.  It was great being a part of Kate & Chris' big day (over at the Saraguay Club) and it was wonderful seeing them have so much fun.

I'm very happy to hear that they are glad they picked me.

Well, there's no secret - I love fun people and I love great locations.  Christi & Matt are an energetic couple who, not only can relax in front of the camera, but you can really how much they love each other.  We also shot at Oakfield Park in Fall River and I've been shooting there like mad this summer.  There are so many wonderful locations all within one park.  I can't wait to shoot their wedding in 2011 because, without sounding corny, it's because of people like them that I love my job so much.
