So while down in Cuba as the photographer for Mandi & Marks destination wedding, I had the opportunity to head out into town with another newly married couple, Amanda & Rob. Amanda, from Quebec, found me through Facebook and we met in the lobby my first day there. They were so much fun and so laid back to made photographing them very easy. First we started on the beach but it was getting hot early that day so we split straight into a beautiful colonial town named Remedios.
It was so rustic and the people were so friendly. We were invited to the home of a local photographer named Jorge and we showed us his old 1952 Whizzer motorcycle and offered it to be part of the shoot. We loved the bike and after he rolled if from it's corner of the room (next to his mothers bed) out to the street ... well, we could have been there all day. But when 10:00 rolled around and it was pushing 32 degrees, we figured it was time to head back to the beach and jump in the water. You know...sort of a 'Trash the Dress' session (don't worry - the dress was fine)
So six months ago I put on a Facebook Promotion. When I reach 500 fans I will randomly draw a name for a photo shoot...can be anything...but you have me for up to an hour. Lisa Kehler's name was drawn and she decided to do an autumn family shoot. Well, we nearly didn't make it. The day we decided to do it ended up being a rainy day. But with a storm coming and then cold weather moving in, we figured this would be our only chance...so we shot in the light rain and what a wonderful shoot it was (can you see the rain?). Lisa's aunt, upon seeing these photos, called them all a Ralph lauren couple. Lisa, I'd agree....you have a beautiful family and I really enjoyed our time together.
Rachel Carter: Beautiful. I love that you can see rain in the photos. on 11.24.10
Lisa: Aw Trevor. These are gorgeous. We had a lot of fun too....I wouldn't hang out in the rain and cold for/with any other photographer. ;) on 11.24.10

Wow Amanda & Liam - what a wedding. Not only did I experience true Labradorian hospitality but exceptional Labradorian craziness. The weather was dramatic, the mosquitoes were bitey and the people were warm, welcoming and very, very fun. The dance and party went on to the wee hours of the morning and the following day Liam, Amanda and I got up for more photos around the base and the Labrador River. Then we were treated to a helicopter tour of the region and Muskrat Falls. Just an awesome trip.
Happy Valley indeed (and Goose Bay).
Oh - and I get to party with many of the same crew again as I'm photographing Amanda's cousin Sonya's wedding this spring...in Punta Cana.

So several months ago Serge, Nicole and I got up at 4:00am to drive an hour away to catch a 5:30 sunrise at Queensland beach. It was a wonderful shoot, albeit a little early in the day to get ...you know...romantic.
Well. They had no problems feeling the love on their wedding day. The weather was great, Nicole's dress was stunning and there was beer to be had on the beach - it was a perfect day to get perfect images.
I was also there the night before for a traditional roasted chicken meal (80 half chickens over coals on an open spit basted with, well I don't know what it was basted with - but it was awesome). The day after the wedding, they were roasting a pig. Hospitable is a pretty good word to describe them all down there.
This wedding was in my Father-in-Law's hometown in the Saulnierville/Meteghan/Bangor area down past Digby in the Acadian heartland. I was told I would have a fun time. No kidding.
I'm talking too much. Let's get to the photos...

I've never really been to Falmouth. I drive by it once in a while but have never really been. But now I had a great reason to stay as Melissa & Billy had me out to Falmouth to shoot their wedding. It was the same day as the big pumpkin weigh-in so I kept driving by pickup trucks low riding with 600lb massive orange blobs in the back on my way to Melissa's place. Welcome to the country. And what a welcome I received. Their families are full of great people and I loved being a part of their big day.
