As a wedding photogtrapher in Halifax, I love being able to photograph weddings and the biggest day in peoples' lives. And I'm quite happy knowing I'll be shooting 15 weddings this summer. However, every one of those weddings is packed into only two months. Oddly, I still have no weddings to photograph on any Saturday in May, June, July & October. If you know anyone who is looking for a wedding photographer for a wedding here in Halifax or anywhere in Nova Scotia or the Maritimes, have them contact me or visit my webiste. Here is the link to my wedding photography packages.
Every year I seem to be the photographer for a wedding on my birthday (Aug 7) and this year it was so happy it was May & Eddie. This very sweet couple was having a a very small (4 people) wedding here in Halifax and then head out for some photos after the wedding. I really do love shooting a beautiful bride and groom with no looming time crunch for the wedding reception. With these Nova Scotian wedding photos, they would have some iconic images to take back for their large wedding ceremony in China.
We got nervous as the shoot started because it was raining very hard here in Halifax but once we got out to Peggy's Cove, the clouds parted and it was very very beautiful hour or so while we shot.
It seems the red does bring good luck!
I got to know Kim & Jon a bit before their wedding and I knew they were working with a wedding planner whom I adore, Jackie Casey with Parkhill Events. But I got really excited when I found out Jackie secured the Halifax Via Rail Train Station over by the Westin as their wedding venue. It was amazing! It was a very elegant wedding which I always apreciate capturing.
It's no secret that I LOVE destination wedding photography. I crave oppotunities to shoot a beautiful bride and groom in exotic locations and often with no itinerary ("Hey, let's go shoot for few hours tomorrow morning in Havana"). Sasha and Raymond asked me to join them at Iberostar's Laguna Azul, a resort in Varadero, Cuba which I've shot at many times before. We had a very hot wedding day (and very windy - so no real time on the beach) but with Sasha's wonderfully exotic look and Raymonds laid back "just want to love my wife" attitude, we had a fantastic few days of shooting!! Speaking of how great Sasha looked, it was my first time meeting one of Halifax's most wonderful makup artists, Vicky Mina. Vicky rocked Sasha's look and gave her a real Cuban flair.
Oh, and I actually won a photo contest held by Atlantic Photo Supply in Halifax with one of these photos in the catagory of Wedding Photography. It's the one with Raymond & Sasha against the door in Havana with Raymond laughing and peeling away. I asked for a 'romanticy temple sniff' and he was like, "yeah, I'm done!". When I call out for that I either get a cuddly romantic look or laughs...either way, I'm ready.
Needless to say, Havana is my favorite place to shoot. Remideos, down by Santa Clara, runs a close second. Of course, Halifax and Charlottetown are right up there too!
Kelly Neonakis-Morash: I absolutely LOVE these pics Trevor! What a gorgeous couple and such a talented photographer to capture them. on 01.03.13
I love going to weddings where the bride has put a lot of thought into all the little extras around me. From orgami corsages to handmade signs - these little details I really appreciate. Natasha & Kelsey are just this kind of people. I loved shooting their wedding. It was so homey and personal. From having a local school bus shuttle people around to the personal hidden colourful added touch to her wedding dress - this wedding was a wonderful example of DIY gone right.
Oh...and the photo of the dog? Yeah, that's him attacking me during the ceremony. He got me on the leg and snarled like this everytime he saw me from that point forward.
Anita: These photos are gorgeous. Such a unique wedding. Love the one with the sun in the background. Great job! on 01.03.13
A few times this summer I was asked to do a wedding shoot without the actual wedding as the ceremony would be in China and the couple would like to have images to take over with them. Mung & Frank were getting married in September but asked me if I would take them out to Peggy's Cove for some 'iconic' Nova Scotian wedding photos that they could present at their reception in China. We had a very fun afternoon. I really do enjoy shoots like this that have no timeline and I get to shoot such beautiful brides.
I was contacted by Jennifer & Adam around Christmas time to photograph their destination wedding in Cuba after their initial wedding photographer bailed. Lucky for me, I was the one with the privilage to shoot this wonderful couple and meet their amazing families. Now, I didn't know this at the time, but Adam is one Hell of an artist and if you love a folk art feel focusing on Newfoundland, then you need to visit and become a fan at his Facebook Page of Young Studios. Anyway, back to Cuba. After the wedding day, we took the opportunity to have a great family shoot with their sweet daughter then into the water in her wedding drress for a very fun and foxy trash the dress shoot (don't worry, the dress is fine). And...a place on my busket list of places to visit? Fogo Island, Newfoundland.
I just love Donnie & Cindy. I remember seeing Cindy in the lobby of the Prince George Hotel the morning of her wedding, hugged her, and told her what we would get wonderful photos and that I was excited to get the 'perfect shot'. Little did I know that we would end up getting an image that would go viral locally on Facebook - seen by more than 30,000 people and commented, shared or liked by over 4000 people. During the dance, we busted outside for the fireworks but were a wee bit too late. So, I said, "the tall ships are just at the bottom of this hill - let's go down for 5 minutes and see if we can get some great images amunst all the people." For a week, people they didn't know approached them asking if it was them in the "Tall Ship Wedding Photo". Unbelievably, as alone as we look, we have over 300 people gathered in a semi circle around us cheering everytime they kissed. It was a wonderful moment for them and for me.
* sadly the HMS Bounty sank a few months after this photo was taken during Hurricane Sandy, killing the Captain and a Nova Scotian crew member.
Karen: Love the pictures. You did an amazing job.The subjects are easy on the eyes also. on 01.03.13
Lindsey & Roger are a very easy couple to shoot. Roger owns the very busy and quickly growing Supplement King and both were looking for a very fun and relaxed wedding day. After our rocking engagement shoot in Gio, the restaurant at Prince George Hotel, and knowing Lindsey's great sense of style (she reminds me of Paris Hilton, just prettier) I knew we were going to get some great images from their big day.
Lindsey King: Fantastic photos Trev! We couldn't have been happier with them. Thank you for capturing these great memories for us. on 01.02.13
I couldn't wait for Lindsey & Rogers wedding. They secured Gio, the restaurant at Prince George Hotel, for our photo shoot and we got some very rad images!
