My story of Becoming a photographer

With the exception of starting a business (curbside porters at the airport) with a group of friends back in 1990), I started my working career at a beautiful local boutique hotel, Inn on the Lake. I looked after the in-house photography back in 2000's, (food, interiors, website fodder, etc) but as well, for the majority of that time I was there, I was the wedding coordinator. For a decade I looked after all the Inn's weddings, from planning to menu selection to day-of coordination and then actually serving the dinner, ensuring a hiccup-free day.

I left the hotel business (I also have a degree in Tourism & Hospitality Management from MSVU) in 2007 to follow my passion of photography and I literally started shooting weddings that very first summer. Since venturing out on my own, I’ve shot nearly 450 weddings, including 25 out of country, and also shoot around 75 family sessions each year.

It comes right down to me sincerely enjoying creating images that I know will be loved by my clients. It sounds corny but it's kinda the main reason I do it. Yes, of course, it pays the bills but there are many other ways I could have done that! It's photography for me.

More about me

I love riding my vintage Harley Davidson ('81 FLH). If it's nice enough for a family shoot, it's nice enough to ride the bike to it!

My boy and I collect silver, either through metal detecting, hunting old dimes & quarters, or actually buying silver bars. Instead of spending all his money on video games, it teaches him about saving. And, yes, I will shoot for gold or silver!

I love to BBQ - feeding people great food is another passion of mine. I think at the end of all this, I'll own a BBQ joint.

My Family

I have two great kids, Gabrielle and Edmond and a wonderful wife, Gillian.

Eddy is a special little guy who's now a teen and loves to workout with me and play games online with his friends. Gabby, like me, is over 6' tall (I'm 6'8") and is also an avid volleyball player. She's looking to become a welder but also has a keen interest in photography!

Jill and I also have another business together, The Great Canadian Laser Company, where we make Christmas ornaments.  If you’re looking for corporate ornaments or are a bride looking for something for your wedding, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
